56 gun ban violators nabbed in WV

A total of 56 individuals have been arrested for violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban in Western Visayas a month after the election period for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections started on Aug. 28, latest report of the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) showed.

The violators included 52 civilians, two security guards, and two members of other law enforcement agencies, who all yielded 45 firearms and 24 deadly weapons.

“We will be fast in dealing with persons who violate the law or commit misconduct, without fear or favor,” PBrig. Gen. Sidney Villafor, regional director of PRO-6, said in a statement. 

According to the report, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) has the most number of arrests with 17, followed by Iloilo PPO, 12; Capiz PPO, seven; Iloilo City Police Office, six;  Bacolod City Police Office, five;  Aklan PPO, two;   and Regional Mobile Force Battalion and Guimaras PPO, one each. | GB
