5 dead in shooting incidents

Five persons, among them a village councilman, died in separate shooting incidents in Negros Occidental on May 1 and 2, police reports showed.

A couple were found dead on Wednesday inside their house in Sitio Manaysay, Barangay Cambayobo, Calatrava.

Both victims, whose identities are being withheld by the police, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head, according to initial police investigation.

A 63-year-old farmer was also gunned down by still unidentified assailants on Thursday in Sitio Antubayon, Barangay Laga-an also in Calatrava.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Calatrava Municipal Hospital.

A village councilman was shot to death by unidentified men in Sitio Tayubong, Barangay Puso, La Castellana on Wednesday.

The 48-year-old victim was on his way to his farm when he was waylaid by the armed men.

Also, a 52-year-old man died after he was shot at Sitio Alo, Barangay Enclaro, Binalbagan.

The suspect, who was armed with a caliber .45 pistol, fled.

Investigators recovered from the scene of the incident two bullet shells, a slug and a live ammunition of caliber .45 pistol.

Before the incident, a heated argument ensued between the victim and the suspect, who were in a drinking spree. | GB
