Four military officers assigned at the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (ID) were promoted to the next higher rank while 26 new officers were assigned to the 3ID.
Promoted to the rank of colonel were Lt. Col. J-Jay Javines, assistant chief of staff for civil-military operations; Lt. Col. Constander Cahayon, assistant chief of staff for intelligence; Lt. Col. Joseph Jason Estrada, assistant chief of staff for personnel; and Lt. Col. Jussel Parlan, commanding officer of the Camp Peralta Station Hospital.
Javines used to be assigned as commander of the 79th Infantry Battalion in northern Negros.
Maj. Gen. Marion Sison, 3ID commander, led the pinning of rank insignia on the newly promoted Army colonels as he formally welcomed the 26 newly-assigned military officers to the 3ID in a ceremony held at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz on Jan. 23.
In his message, Sison emphasized the importance of leadership, integrity, and teamwork in the military profession.
“As leaders, it is our duty to serve as role models, inspire our soldiers, and uphold the values that make us strong — unity, discipline, and excellence. I am confident that each one of you will contribute to the continued success of the 3ID and the Philippine Army as a whole,” he added.
He reminded the officers that their promotions and assignments were not just a recognition of their hard work, but also an increased responsibility to lead with courage and dedication in the service of the nation.
“Let this ceremony serve as a reminder that leadership is not just about rank or position, but about the positive impact we have on those who serve under us,” Sison said. | GB
