There are 24,819 applications for the student educational assistance in Western Visayas still for assessment and payout, subject to the availability of funds, as of Sept. 7, the Department of Social Welfare and Development 6 said Thursday.

The number is part of the 43,820 applications already cross-matched, out of the 591,744 total requests received by the DSWD6, its regional information officer, Atty. May Rago-Castillo, said in a PIA video briefer.

Rago-Castillo added that 6,936 applications were considered not eligible for the educational aid to indigent students, through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, since the supposed beneficiaries are already in the database of the 4Ps, or the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. The others were previously paid or had duplication in registration, the department added.

Still for cross-matching are 547,924 applications received online, so the DSWD6 temporarily stopped the online registration Sept. 7, to give way for the processing of these requests.

The fourth assessment and payout is set on Sept. 10 in designated centers all over Western Visayas, including in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.

The DSWD earlier said it already disbursed more than P76 million in cash assistance to 27,280 students in crisis in Western Visayas in the first three payouts.

Of the amount, P15.98 million was released to 5,335 beneficiaries in Bacolod and Negros Occidental, including 971 elementary students, 824 in high school, 793 in senior high school, and 2,747 in college.

Under the program, qualified elementary students can avail of P1,000; high school, P2,000; senior high school, P3,000; and P4,000 for vocational/college students./CGC
