The Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office recorded two suicide cases in the province early this week.
The police said that a 41-year-old construction worker, a resident of the Yolanda Housing in Barangay Washington, Escalante City, was found hanging lifeless inside a nipa hut in Hacienda Amigos 3, Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz, at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 22.
Initial investigation showed that the victim had a drinking spree in the hut at about 10 p.m. Nov. 21, adding that earlier that day, he and his live-in partner had an argument over the cell phone.
His body was found by his co-worker, and a suicide note written in Cebuano was also recovered, the police said.
The victim was brought to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic but was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician.
A laborer, 49, was also found hanging lifeless in a nipa hut owned by his sister at about 3 p.m. Monday in Sitio Tubod, Barangay Sikatuna, Isabela.
The police said the victim was observed to be always drunk and was not eating the past few days. He did not return home night of Nov. 21, so a nephew looked for him and found his body.
The body was already in his sister’s house when the Isabela PNP arrived. — MML
