Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya confirmed July 15 that a show-cause order has been issued to a City Legal Office (CLO) employee, who allegedly engaged in power tripping in a bar at Goldenfield Commercial Complex last month.

Investigation by the CLO showed that the employee, also a member of the CLO Joint Inspection Team, allegedly used his position to demand free drinks by introducing himself as an inspector.

“I gave him five days to air his reason,” Gasataya stressed.

“This is exactly what I am saying—let us not use the prospect of an inspection to avail of something like this because this is not helping our business sector here in Bacolod,” he added.

CLO head, Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu, said the employee has been barred from joining any field operation while the investigation is going on.

Chiu assured the public that his office will not tolerate such behavior and the employee will be held strictly accountable, regardless of his connection to the CLO.

The CLO is also looking into a separate but similar incident involving a potential abuse of authority by another City Hall employee. | TMD
