Twelve more employees of the Negros Occidental provincial government have been tested positive for use of illegal drugs.
This brought to 20 the number of Capitol employees whose results turned out positive, of which 19 are using shabu while one is a marijuana user.
The provincial government conducted a two-day mandatory drug testing on Dec. 11 and 12.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said that there are results indicating that 16 other Capitol employees had faint traces of shabu use.
All the 36 employees will be subjected to confirmatory tests, he added.
More than 2,300 provincial government employees, including elected officials, were subjected to drug testing in compliance with the memorandum- order issued by the Civil Service Commission.
“When the report is final, we will deal with the violators accordingly,” Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier said.
Employees positive for illegal drug use will face sanctions, Diaz said.
He added that the employment of job orders, contract of service and casual workers who tested positive will not be renewed in 2024 while regular employees will face administrative charges. | GB
