The Office of the President, in collaboration with the National Housing Authority (NHA) Negros Occidental, distributed P10,000 in cash assistance to each of the 106 beneficiaries in rites held at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center in Bago City recently.
The beneficiaries are from the 19 barangays of Bago, who were affected by the onslaught of super typhoon Egay, the city said.
They received the assistance through the government’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP).
EHAP is intended to provide financial assistance to NHA housing beneficiaries, who are affected by calamities.
They also received food packs.
Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, who graced the activity, thanked the Office of the President and NHA as well as the Office of Senator Bong Go for facilitating the distribution of cash assistance for recipient-Bagonhons.
The vice mayor expressed hopes that the aid will help recipient-families to further recover from the damage brought by the typhoon.
The Office of Go also helped in securing funds for the provision of snacks and various sports equipment, he added.
Also present during the distribution were Riza Mea Seva of the Office of Go, and NHA’s engineer Jagger Gamao and community support services chief Marrisa Murillo, among other guests. ||
