1 dead, 3 hurt in stabbing incidents

A 61-year-old farmer died while three other men were injured in three separate stabbing incidents across Negros Occidental Oct. 1 and 2.

In Sipalay City, a home intrusion in Purok Bawug, Barangay Camindangan, resulted in the death of the farmer, while his 35-year-old son was severely injured, at around 9 p.m. Oct. 1.

Police investigation revealed that the victims were inside their residence when a 57-year-old suspect entered and stabbed the two in the chest and abdomen.

Both were brought to the Merceditas J. Montilla District Hospital but the father was declared dead on arrival while the son was later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.

Barangay officials arrested the suspect and turned him over to the Sipalay Component City Police Station, where he remains in custody, the police said.

In Isabela town, a 21-year-old male was stabbed in the back at around 10:50 p.m. Oct. 1 in Sitio Jamaica, Barangay Camang-camang.

The police said the victim was sitting at a basketball court and playing mobile games with friends when the 51-year-old suspect stabbed him in the back.

Family members brought the victim to the Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital while the Isabela Municipal Police Station personnel are conducting pursuit operations to arrest the suspect.

Meanwhile, an argument during a barangay fiesta led to a stabbing at Hacienda Lugway, Barangay Hawaiian, Silay City, Oct. 2.

The police said the 36-year-old victim was in dance area when an argument ensued between him and the 21-year-old suspect.

During the confrontation, the suspect grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed the victim on the left side of his body.

He was rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, while the suspect was nabbed during a follow-up operation and turned over to the Silay police for appropriate action. | TMD
