The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said Aug. 19 that it arrested 310 wanted persons in two weeks of manhunt operations all over Western Visayas, with the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) topping the list with 137 arrests.

The Bacolod City Police Office and Iloilo CPO accounted for 24 each, Iloilo PPO, 56; Antique PPO, 30; Capiz PPO, 19; Aklan PPO, 16; the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 with three arrests; and the Guimaras PPO with one arrest in the first 15 days of August.

This is the product of 287 operations conducted regionwide, the PRO6 said in a press release, adding that, of the wanted persons arrested, 44 are tagged as most wanted persons (MWP), and 266 are other wanted persons (OWP).

Of the MWPs, six fall under regional level, eight provincial and city level, and 30 were station level.

“The arrest of these law violators is of great help in the decrease of our crime volume,” PRO6 director, Brigadier General Jack Wanky said and lauded all the tracker teams and their unit commanders for the patience and commitment in locating these wanted persons.

“I encourage you to closely work with the community for us to locate the remaining wanted in the region,” he added.

The PRO6 also said it implemented 29 search warrants (SW) from July 1 to Aug. 15 this year.

Of the number, five SWs were implemented for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and 24 for violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation Act.

These operations resulted in the arrest of 27 persons, recovery of 28 assorted firearms, one explosive, 121 grams of suspected shabu worth P822,000, and 599 grams of marijuana, valued at P72,000, the PRO6 said.

Wanky urged his operatives to continue the intensified campaign against loose firearms and all forms of illegal activities. “We aim to account for the remaining loose firearms to prevent these from being used in any criminal act.” ||
