An estimated P14 million worth of properties were damaged after a fire hit the warehouse and office facility of Multitrade Corp. at Megaworld’s The Upper East in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City Wednesday afternoon, a report of the the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said.
No one was injured, but the origin of the fire has yet to be established after it was put out by responding firefighters after 30 minutes.
In a statement, Harold Geronimo, Megaworld vice president of public relations and media affairs, said that the fire incident has been declared “fire out” by Chief Insp. Stephen Jardeleza, city fire marshal, around 2:55 p.m.
“It only affected the temporary warehouse and office facility of our contractors. This is neither a staff house nor a construction site. The nearby construction sites as well as residential towers are safe,” he added.
Geronimo thanked the BFP’s Bacolod City Fire Station and the local fire brigades “for their fast response to the fire call”.
“The incident only lasted for about 30 minutes because of the efficient fire response,” he said. | GB
