Vice President Leni Robredo said she is heartened by and appreciative of the warm welcome and support that welcomed her to Negros Occidental and Bacolod City on Friday, Nov. 5.

She said she did not experience this kind of welcome from Negrenses in 2016 as she thanked the more than 5,000 Negrense supporters and around a thousand cars that greeted her and Senator Francisco “Kiko” Pangilinan upon their arrival at the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

Robredo said her visit proved that a lot of people from the province have similar agenda as her and her team in the 2022 elections.

She said she is introducing a new kind of governance and she believes that Negrenses want the same ideals for truth and clean leadership.

She said she hopes that Negrenses will consider her as the right person to lead the country.

The vice president said she considers Negros as her bailiwick and acknowledged the big number of votes she received in the 2016 elections.

Robredo also met with representatives of multi-sectoral groups that expressed their support and commitment to the Leni-Kiko tandem.

These include the labor group, civic organizations, urban poor, youth, peoples’ organizations, the academe, and employees from private institutions.

Laban Leni Negros convenor, Atty. Pinky Ocampo, said their group is gaining support every day. She noted that the number of vehicles that joined the welcome motorcade this morning was more than double the participants in the Oct. 22 caravan.

Supporters from as far as Hinobaan, Sipalay, and Kabankalan in the south, and San Carlos City from the north assembled at the Bacolod-Silay Access Road and joined the motorcade of Robredo and Pangilinan in going to the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod to meet with Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Robredo also visited the Bacolod Government Center this afternoon and met with Mayor Evelio Leonardia and other city officials. – MML
