The resumption of the voter registration for the synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will start on Dec. 12 this year, Provincial Comelec supervisor, Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, said Friday.

Ananoria said the voter registration is open to everybody, from SK to regular voters, in connection with the Oct. 30, 2023 BSKE polls and the mid-term elections in 2025.

As to the voter registration deadline, he said they are still waiting for a formal resolution from the Comelec en banc.

Ananoria also expects the putting up of Comelec satellite offices in the barangays to cater to more registrants.

Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco earlier said the Commission en banc also approved the operational plan for the pilot testing of the Register Anywhere Project (RAP) in five malls/satellite registration sites in the National Capital Region.

The RAP project is expected to bring voter registration closer to the public, and ultimately make the process convenient and citizen-centric, as any qualified Filipino residing anywhere in the country has the option and ease of access to register in the NCR.

Ananoria, however, said he is not aware yet if Negros Occidental and the highly-urbanized Bacolod City will be included as pilot areas for the RAP project./GB
