The Commission on Elections is set to conduct a voter education roadshow in Negros Occidental starting today in preparation for the May 12, 2025 national and local elections.

Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said that the automated counting machines (ACMs) that will be used for the demonstrations have already been delivered to all the 32 local government units in Negros Occidental.

The roadshow will include live demonstrations of the ACM operation, allowing voters to familiarize themselves with the new technology.

Each local election office received one unit of ACM for use during the roadshow.

A report from the Comelec national office showed that the roadshow will be conducted via Zoom.

In a social media post, the poll body announced that both newly registered and old voters will have the opportunity to experience how to use the ACM.

“The goal of the roadshow is to introduce the ACM to Filipino voters to ensure they understand how to properly use the machine, and to reinforce the importance of exercising their right and responsibility to vote,” the Comelec said.

The roadshow will run until Jan. 30 next year.

There are 2,009,564 registered voters in Negros Occidental, including the highly urbanized Bacolod City, for the midterm elections in May next year, according to the Comelec.

Among the six congressional districts, the third district has the most number of registered voters at 318,496, followed by sixth district – 311,782; fifth district – 302,714; first district – 258,527; fourth district – 248,782; and second district –212,939.
