Citicore Solar Negros Occidental based in Silay City, as well as the Victorias Milling Company and Victorias Green Energy Corp., are among the 118 companies found compliant to bid for the 11,600-megawatt offered renewal energy (RE) capacities.
As per the list of qualified bidders for the second round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-2) program released by the Department of Energy, Citicore Solar has three potential bids, two for Victorias Green, and one for VMC.
The evaluation was conducted by the Technical Working Group of the Green Energy Auction-Bids Evaluation and Awards Committee.
A total of 339 out of 378 submissions of registration for different RE technologies from 118 companies were found compliant, the DOE said in a statement, adding that qualified bidders are expected to post a bid bond amounting to a minimum of P1 million per megawatt.
The pre-bid conference will be conducted on June 6, when qualified bidders can seek clarifications. A walkthrough of the electronic bidding platform will also be conducted.
The auction proper on June 19 will have three stages, corresponding to the annual installation targets in 2024, 2025, and 2026. The installations will be sited across Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao grids, the DOE said.
The GEA-2 is expected to encourage more investments in power generation, and to promote the growth of renewable energy as one of the country’s primary sources of power, and as part of the government’s target of 35 percent RE in the energy mix by 2030, and 50 percent by 2040, the DOE added./CGC
