Victorias City is the first local government unit in Negros Occidental to fully automate its Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS), Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez said at the inauguration of the newly-renovated BOSS Office Sept. 4.

The renovated facility inside the Business Permits and Licensing Office at the City Hall grounds is designed to streamline the processing of permits and licenses, ensuring faster and more efficient transactions for Victoriasanons.

This move aligns with the provisions of the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018, further solidifying the city’s commitment to better public service.

In his message, Benitez said the purchase of equipment for the automation of the BOSS operations was made possible through the P2.3 million Incentive Fund after Victorias was awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in 2023.

The budget for the renovation and expansion of the office, meanwhile, was sourced from the city’s 20% Development Fund.

Benitez emphasized the importance of respecting and valuing business taxpayers. “Finance is the lifeblood of any local government unit, that’s why kinahanglan gid nga we should show respect and courtesy sa (business taxpayers).”

Department of the Interior and Local Government Negros Occidental director Teodora Sumagaysay commended the city for achieving a full automation of its BOSS operations.

“With the full automation project, Victorias City takes a bold step forward, embracing its readiness for the future,” she said.

DILG Western Visayas assistant regional director Maria Calpiza Sardua also praised this initiative during her speech. “Every time you look at the new BOSS, remember that this is a monument of good governance in Victorias City.”

The signing of the Certificate of Turnover and Acceptance for the use of the SGLG Incentive Fund was one highlight of the event, led by Benitez and Sardua, and witnessed by Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, City Administrator and BPLO officer-in-charge, Atty.
