Vehicles damaged in grenade blast

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) condemned the grenade throwing incident in a private garage at Bangga Salgado in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City on Tuesday morning (Oct. 14).

While no one was hurt, the explosion damaged the Toyota Hilux and Ford Eco Sports vehicles as well as the motorcycle of Ranion Garingo, initial investigation of the Police Station 8 showed.

The grenade was reportedly thrown by two suspects, who were on board a motorcycle.

Two unexploded grenades were also recovered at the scene of incident by the Bacolod City Explosives and Canine Unit.

In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, regional director of the PRO-NIR, called the incident “a cowardly act that threatens public safety and disturbs the peace of our communities.”

Ibay said they are mobilizing all necessary resources to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

He also ordered the Bacolod City Police Office to intensify intelligence and police visibility operations, in coordination with barangay officials and other law enforcement agencies, to prevent similar incidents. | GB
