The Land Transportation Office-Bacolod City District Office said 20 motor vehicles were inspected Dec. 21 to ensure road safety and lawful public transport operations, with the start of the holiday rush.

Ten mini buses, five public utility jeepneys, and five tricycles for hire were inspected, and all successfully passed, with no violations recorded, the LTO-Bacolod said.

The activity focused on the strict enforcement of Republic Act No. 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, the “No Registration, No Travel” policy, and anti-colorum operations.

“The LTO Bacolod City District Office NIR continues to conduct regular inspections and enforcement activities to ensure that only roadworthy and legally-registered vehicles are allowed to operate, safeguarding the welfare of both drivers and the commuting public,” it said in a statement.

LTO-NIR OIC regional director Jeck Conlu, meanwhile, led the gathering of key officials from Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor to strengthen collaboration and ensure a unified direction for the region’s transport system.

He said the regional office is committed to streamlining operations, enhancing public service, and developing a strong transportation infrastructure tailored to the needs of NIR.

The LTO in Western Visayas has also hit the ground running under the “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos! Pasko 2025”, a nationwide enforcement and commuter assistance campaign that will run until Jan. 4, 2026.

Vehicles will be checked for safety and roadworthiness as thousands of passengers began their travels for the holidays. Public assistance desks will also be set up in major terminals to ensure that motorists and passengers alike have access to support throughout the Christmas and New Year rush, the LTO stressed. | CGC
