Valladolid Mayor Enrique “Bebot” Miravalles thanked rescue groups and Bureau of Fire Protection units from San Enrique, Pulupandan and Bago City as well as businessman Gerry Sy for responding to his call for help after two wing vans figured in a head-on collision past 12 a.m. today along the Sagwabanwa national highway in the town that killed four persons.

Volunteers from Kabalikat Valladolid chapter and their counterparts from nearby LGUs also rushed to scene as fire quickly gutted the two vehicles.

The charred bodies of the two drivers and their two helpers have already been removed, investigators said.

Valladolid police chief Capt. Wilfredo Benoman identified two of the fatalities as brothers Wendell and Carlo Larios, who were inside the van travelling from south going north.

Wendell, 37, was driving the vehicle while Carlos, 26, was his helper. Both were residents of Mabinay, Negros Oriental, Benoman said.

The driver and helper of the other van with plate number MAH 4613 , who were inside the van traveling in the opposite direction were still unidentified.

Initial police investigation said the van from south veered off the road and crashed on the other vehicle. The impact might have caused the fuel tank of one of the vans to explode, reports said. — NND News Team (Screen shot courtesy of the Valladolid Municipal Government) https://www.facebook.com/Valladolid2017/videos/854396985363801/
