The vaccination of minors 12 to 17 years old without comorbidities will go full blast this week in Bacolod City, following the wide acceptance of the pediatric vaccination.
Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical, data analysis and management of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force, said they have forged cooperation with the Department of Education, including private schools, and the Sangguniang Kabataan, in efforts to vaccinate minors.
The Bacolod City Schools Division has also been tapped, and Sorongon said that public and private schools are currently working on the master listing of students who want to get vaccinated.
Many private schools have already completed their master lists. The St. Scholastica’s Academy, in fact, had 339 vaccinees Nov. 5.
Students from the Bacolod Tay Tung High School are scheduled for inoculation today, Nov. 8; Colegio San Agustin Bacolod, Nov.10; University of St. La Salle-Integrated School, Nov. 11; La Consolacion College and St. John’s Institute, Nov. 12, and the Trinity Christian School on Nov. 13, Sorongon added.
He said the EOC-TF, headed by Em Legaspi-Ang, will allocate vaccines for the 12 to 17 age group in all 27 barangay-based vaccination centers.
The SK Federation has also committed to help in the campaign and the master listing of pediatric age-group to reach as many minors as possible.
Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., officer-in-charge of the City Health Office, said that big barangays will also be allocated 20 vials or 140 doses for the pediatric population, while clustered barangays each will have five vials or 35 doses. — MML
