Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer said on Tuesday (May 28) that Love Negros and United Negros Alliance (UNegA) will support the tandem of former Silay City Mayor Mark Golez and Councilor Ryan Gamboa in the May 2025 midterm elections.

He pointed out that whoever will be supported by Governor Eugenio Lacson will also be backed by Love Negros and UNegA, citing the alliance between the two political groups.

Lacson heads Love Negros while Ferrer is a leader of UNegA.

“Because we were together when we won in the last elections, our alliance continues and we will support the candidates supported by the governor,” Ferrer said.

Incumbent Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego and Vice Mayor Thomas Maynard Ledesma are unfazed by the Golez-Gamboa tandem.

Gallego confirmed also on Tuesday that Ledesma will be his runningmate in next year’s elections.

During the 2022 elections, Ledesma was the runningmate of Golez, who was unseated by Gallego in the mayoralty post.

Golez and Gamboa have already been endorsed by Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez and Abang Lingkod partylist Rep. Stephen Joseph Paduano for the mayoral and vice mayoral posts.

“It is their right to run since they are registered voters of Silay,” Gallego said.

Ledesma, who confirmed his resignation from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino, said “let the people decide”.

Gallego said he has already eight councilor-aspirants in his line-up, including four incumbent members of the City Council. | GB
