Typhoon Paeng victims get housing aid in San Carlos

Twenty-eight residents from Barangay Quezon and five from Brgy. Bagonbon in San Carlos City received financial assistance from the National Housing Authority Negros Occidental District Office March 20.

NHA-Negros Occidental District Office Community Support Services officer Mary Grace Gabatanga said 32 beneficiaries with damaged houses received P5,000 each, and P10,000 for a beneficiary whose house was destroyed when Typhoon Paeng wreaked havoc in Negros Occidental and other parts of the country in October 2022.

Gabatanga also said the budget was sourced from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, through the NHA, which allocated P170,000 for Typhoon Paeng victims in San Carlos, the city said in a press release.

She added that the list of beneficiaries was from the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) that was forwarded to the provincial DRRMC. The payout was held at the Senior Citizen’s building in the city. ||
