This week, Central Philippine University observes Christ Emphasis Week with the theme “The Crucial Decision.”

In every generation, people face many decisions about career, relationships, and future plans. Yet above all these stands one decisive question that shapes eternity: What will I do with Christ?

In Acts 16, a Roman jailer asked the most important question a person can ever ask, “What must I do to be saved?” His question remains relevant for us today.

Paul and Silas were imprisoned in Philippi for preaching the gospel. After a violent earthquake opened the prison doors, the jailer feared punishment and prepared to take his own life. In that moment of crisis, he encountered not only a miracle but the message of salvation.

The jailer, a Gentile working for the Roman state, was confronted with the truth of Christ. His question was urgent, sincere, and life-changing.

First, recognize the urgency of the question.

Acts 16:30 says, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

The jailer’s question came from a heart awakened by crisis. He realized that power, position, and security could not save him.

Many people delay spiritual decisions, assuming there will always be another opportunity. Yet Scripture shows that salvation is not automatic; it requires response. The crucial decision begins when we recognize our need for God.

Christ Emphasis Week invites us to reflect personally. Have you honestly asked this question? Beyond academic success or professional goals, have you settled your relationship with Christ?

The most important question in life concerns your salvation.

Second, respond in faith to the answer.

Acts 16:31 says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”

Paul’s answer was clear and simple: believe in the Lord Jesus. Salvation is not earned by achievement or good works. It is received by faith in Christ. To believe means to trust, surrender, and commit oneself to Him as Lord. The jailer made his decision that very night, and his life was transformed.

A crucial decision requires action. Faith is not merely agreement in the mind; it is trust expressed in obedience. Christ Emphasis Week is not only about hearing messages, but also about responding to them. Choose to believe, choose to follow, choose to live for Christ.

The right decision about Christ determines your destiny.

In a university committed to faith and excellence, the most crucial decision remains personal. Degrees, achievements, and opportunities are important, but none compares to the decision to trust Christ.

May this Christ Emphasis Week lead many to ask the right question and make the right choice, believing in the Lord Jesus and experiencing the life He gives. | NWI
