The “rainbow-bright” interior of ART Taste

Art + Taste.

What was originally planned as a coffee shop that will serve as a hangout for young visual artists of Cadiz City has become a  restobar.

This is still our meeting place of sorts, but since I’m an artist and my wife, Edalyn, an accountant, has the passion for cooking, the concept, ART Taste,  came about,” related J.R. Ledesma, founder of the Hibalag Artists group.

Since ART Taste opened its doors on Oct. 21, it has been frequented by their friends, relatives, neighbors and city residents, who became curious about the place when Ledesma posted photos  on social media of its unique interior artfully done by the local “masters”.

The ART Taste mural is a favorite selfie background for customers.

While the wall (20 x 48 ft)-to-ceiling (20 x 38 ft) mural is a visual attraction, its freshly brewed coffee, buffalo wings with garlic cream sauce and nachos, on the other hand, are gustatory delights.

Ledesma developed the ART Taste Cafe at the vacant space of his parents’  house at Bliss Project in Barangay Daga, Cadiz City.

With the help of Hibalag members, relatives, the carpenters and even his young daughter, they burned midnight oil for one whole week to finish the mural, which Ledesma said was inspired by Taiwan’s “Rainbow Village”, a tourist destination in Taichung.

“The Rainbow Village, which my wife and I visited last year came to mind when we were conceptualizing the establishment,” Ledesma confided.

The art pieces–of different sizes– of Ledesma and other Hibalag members are also displayed on the cafe’s walls and are for sale.

“The ART Taste is developing into a coffee shop and a restore with an art gallery. And we have more attractions to come,” Ledesma added. ETL ART Taste Photos
