A Grade 10 student was arrested Tuesday, April 4, by the police for possession of a fragmentation grenade and suspected dried marijuana leaves while in the school premises in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

P/Capt. Abegael Donasco, deputy police chief of Talisay, said that the student, identified as Bronson Lucas Lacson, 21, was arrested after a complaint was filed against him by a trisikad driver, who claimed to have been threatened by Lacson with the grenade.

Policemen, who responded to the complaint, intercepted and nabbed the suspect inside the premises of the Rafael B Lacson Memorial High School in Talisay City, where a fragmentation grenade and suspected dried marijuana leaves were recovered from his possession.

Classes were temporarily suspended in the school, where the suspect was enrolled.

Donasco said the student faces charges for grave threats, illegal possession of explosives, and for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Mere possession of explosives is a non-bailable offense, she added./GB
