Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya reminded all city government employees July 13 to strictly refrain from asking for free meals, drinks, or special favors from commercial establishments in the city.

The mayor’s warning followed a formal complaint lodged with his office regarding a city employee who reportedly demanded free perks from a local establishment.

“As long as it’s not office hours, whatever you do is your business, as long as it’s not illegal, that’s on you. But please, if you go to any bar, drinking establishment, or restaurant, don’t say that you are an employee of City Hall. Pay up if you are charged,” Gasataya said, noting that they are actively investigating the complaint.

He emphasized that this is unfair to Bacolod’s business owners, who pay taxes, their employees’ salaries, and invest their own capital.

The mayor emphasized that if the allegations are proven true, the concerned employee will be held fully accountable under existing Civil Service rules. | TMD
