The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod will hold a special session Sept. 29 to act on several concerns, mostly about the MassKara Festival celebration, that will have a grand kickoff salubong the following day, Sept. 30.
Among these concerns include the letter of Atty. Pinky Mirano-Ocampo, director of the MassKara Festival 2022 and president of the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc., who requested for road closures, barricades, warning signs, and traffic assistance during the various festival events.
Mayor Alfredo Benitez, who requested the holding of the special session in a letter to Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, SP presiding officer, that was received this morning, Sept. 28, also asked for the SP ratification of the memorandum of agreement entered into between the City and the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, the organizer of this year’s MassKara Festival resumption.
The SP is also set to ratify the MOAs entered into by the City and barangays 25, 20, 4, 17, 39, 3, 32, 5, 29, and 1 for the grant of P150,000 financial assistance each as they compete in the electric MassKara; and the MOAs with barangays 40, 34, Estefania, 35, Tangub, Alangilan, 7, Alijis, 12, Granada, 14, Singcang-Airport, 22, 26, Sum-ag, 27, and 31, for a P200,000 subsidy in joining the street dance competition.
Benitez also asked authority from the sanggunian to sign the contract of lease between Bacolod City and the Kareila Management Corporation, and the MOA with the Philippine National Bank.
There was no SP session this afternoon as the councilors were on official travel to Manila since Sept. 24 to attend the Bacolod Night segment of the 36th Negros Trade Fair 2022, and to meet with Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar./CGC
