“Hofileña is a living testament that anybody can excel academically at any given time when you only put in enough time, effort, and determination into your studies,” the resolution said, adding that the SP joins the whole City in congratulating Hofileña, who has made Bacolodnons proud of his outstanding performance in the physicians’ licensure examination.”

Ang said the topnotcher graduated valedictorian in the College of Medicine from West Visayas State University in 2022. “He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology degree from Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod as his pre-medical course, and finished his secondary education from St. John’s institute”.

She added that he was a postgraduate intern Batch 2022 at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod.

Meanwhile, the SP also passed a resolution enjoining the city, through Mayor Alfredo Benitez, to institutionalize and support the World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) on April 2.

Proponent Councilor Cindy Rojas, with Ang as co-author, noted that many organizations and foundations observe WAAD to increase awareness about autism’s various signs and symptoms, and promote acceptance of individuals with autism.

“Some Bacolodnons have a family member and suffer some problems in raising an individual with autism like other people,” the resolution said, adding that WAAD supports individuals with autism to help them overcome any impediment in their development./CGC
