A 64-year-old laborer was reportedly hacked to death by his own nephew while walking home intoxicated in Barangay Mabini, Escalante City in Negros Occidental Aug. 30, the police said.

The Escalante Component City Police Station identified the victim as alias “Benjo”, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor and was walking home when he was ambushed by his 25-year-old nephew.

The suspect attacked his uncle using a 16-inch sugarcane cutter, and inflicted multiple hack wounds in different parts of his body that resulted in the laborer’s instantaneous death, the police added.

The nephew voluntarily surrendered to barangay officials, who retrieved the victim’s body, and turned over the suspect and the sugarcane cutter to responding policemen.

The police said that old family grudge could be the primary motive for the attack. | TMD
