An 80-year-old senior citizen was found dead inside the restroom of his house under renovation at NEDF Subdivision, Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City, at around 7:30 a.m. Sept. 18.
Construction workers discovered the body of the victim, identified as Siegfredo Magalona, lying face down with apparent head injuries, the police said.
Bacolod City Police Station 10 commander, Capt. Lelanie Lagoting, said that bloodstains were found in the restroom, but there were no indications of forced entry nor any personal belongings missing from the house where the victim lived alone.
But Lagoting took note of a blotter report in August involving stolen welding machines and other materials from the victim’s residence.
She said they are now checking the closed-circuit televisions in the area for possible footage.
As of press time, authorities cannot yet confirm whether there was foul play involved as the investigation remains ongoing, in coordination with the Scene of the Crime Operatives. | TMD
