As preparations for this year’s MassKara Festival ramp up, the official search for Miss Bacolod MassKara 2025 is now underway.

Organized by the Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc., the annual pageant aims to crown a young woman, who best represents the ideals of the MassKara Festival—joy, resilience, and pride in Bacolodnon heritage.

“We are looking for someone who goes beyond beauty,” Carlos Durana Jr., pageant chairperson, said in a press release from the foundation.

“She should be a symbol of unity, strength, and optimism—the very values that define the MassKara spirit. Someone who is ready to inspire the community and proudly represent Bacolod on a larger stage,” Durana said.

The pageant is open to women 18 to 25 years old, at least 5’5” in height, single, and a resident of Bacolod or with Bacolodnon roots up to the third degree. Applicants must also be at least a high school graduate, and must not have participated in major national or international beauty pageants.

This year’s pageant will be led by newly-appointed Bacolod Gugma Foundation president and MassKara Festival director, Rodney Mitz Ascalon, who also serves as the event’s creative director.

Last year’s winner, Princess Ella Olia of Barangay Mansilingan, was crowned Miss Bacolod MassKara 2024. She was joined by Akeisha Nicole Nuarin as first runner-up, and Cindy Valencia as second runner-up. All three have since been active in representing Bacolod in civic and cultural events.

Official screening will be on Aug. 9 and 10, 1-5 p.m., at Northwest Inn in Bacolod. Interested applicants are encouraged to pre-register through the official form available at the Miss Bacolod MassKara social media page.

An applicant should wear a black bodycon dress, bring a plain two-piece swimsuit in any color that flatters one’s physique, heels must not exceed 6.5 inches, and should come to the venue fully made up. “Makeup kits and tools are not allowed, only retouch kits will be permitted.” ||
