The Sagay City government recently inaugurated a new multi-purpose building and conducted Oplan Paglilingkod in Brgy. Bato, combining infrastructure development and direct service delivery to residents.

Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva led the inauguration of the P5-million multi-purpose building, which will serve as a venue for public services and community activities in the barangay.

The project forms part of the continuing development of barangay facilities, with only a few remaining areas in Sagay set for similar projects.

The inauguration coincided with the rollout of Oplan Paglilingkod, the city’s annual service caravan, where various departments provided frontline services directly to residents.

Cueva said the joint activity reflected the city’s commitment to ensure that both infrastructure and services are delivered to communities.

“We are happy to see many residents availing of the services because this is meant for all of you. For 30 years, we have continued this effort of bringing services directly to every barangay,” the mayor said in a city press release.

He thanked barangay officials, health workers, and participating departments for their continued support, noting that the program has been sustained through strong cooperation.

Punong barangay Georgie Javelosa expressed appreciation to the city government, saying the annual Oplan Paglilingkod allows residents to access services without going to the city proper.

During the program, residents availed of various services, including health consultations, social welfare assistance, veterinary and agriculture services, and other government programs.

Meanwhile, kagawad Leila Colada said the new building will serve as a center for public service in the barangay. “We are accepting a new home for public service. It will be the heart of the community, and we commit to maintain and ensure that it serves its purpose.”

Present during the activity were Vice Mayor Narciso Javelosa Jr., Sangguniang Panlungsod members Benson Fernandez, Sherwin Sy, Concepcion Javellana, Perfecto Marañon, Lura Javelosa, Roldan Gamao, Eddie Lobaton, Exequiel Marañon, and Mel Serondo, department heads, and executive assistant Beethoven Fuentesfina.

Cueva said the combined activity highlighted the city’s continued effort to improve access to services while strengthening barangay infrastructure for long-term community development. ||
