Sagay gets P3M silage facility to boost livestock production

The local government of Sagay received a Certificate of Turnover from the Department of Agriculture for the establishment of a silage facility, worth P3 million, to strengthen livestock production and ensure a sustainable feed supply, the city said Jan. 19.

The facility was awarded under the DA’s Livestock Economic Enterprise Development Program, and is located at the Hacienda Ricky Livestock Breeding Center in Brgy. Paraiso, Sagay.

The silage facility is expected to improve feed availability, enhance livestock productivity, and support the long-term development of the local livestock industry, the city stressed.

Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva received the certificate on behalf of the city government, together with city veterinarian, Dr. Modesto Joseph Cañonero III, and city agriculturist Julie Delima.

The recent turnover ceremony was led by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and DA-Negros Island Region regional executive director, Engr. Albert Barrogo, at the newly-established Murcia Abattoir in Brgy. Alegria, Murcia.

Cueva said the project reflects the strong partnership between the DA and the Sagay City government in advancing agricultural sustainability and food security. ||
