A vehicular extrication rescue training (VERT) was held in Sipalay City recently, and participated in by Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office personnel from the CHICKS District and Binalbagan in Negros Occidental, and Mabinay in Negros Oriental.
It was aimed at training responders on efficient extrication of individuals while minimizing the risk of further injuries, setting up a safe working area, evaluating a possible hazard, extricating the victims, and treating the victims’ injuries.
It also aimed to educate emergency responders on the proper techniques and procedures for safe rescuing, such as those involved in accidents, the city said in a press release, adding that participants were also shown and oriented on extrication tools and other rescue equipment.
The training was initiated by the Sipalay LGU, through its CDRRMO, together with the Negros Occidental Association of Disaster Resilient Officers and Practitioners Inc., in collaboration with the Negros Occidental Instructors League, and BT Industries Inc.
Kabankalan DRMMO, Engr. Judson Cabalatungan, Ilog DRRMO/NOADROP president Gideon Padilla, Mabinay DRRMO Dindo Amurganda, and DRRMO Cauayan Engr. Louie Lagulao were also present during the training. ||
