Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson on Tuesday (June 25) named Dr. Francis Gabriel Relota as the new chief of the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City to succeed Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, who has been named as the Department of Health (DOH) undersecretary.

Lacson said that Maestral already accepted the DOH offer while Relota told him that he is ready to take over the management of TLJPH.

He also thanked Maestral, whom he appointed as hospital chief in 2021, for what she has done for the improvement of services at TLJPH.

“It is now a Level 2 hospital, and we are now leading to Level 3,” Lacson said.

The DOH has approved TLJPH to become a 200-bed capacity hospital.

Lacson said that Relota told him that he is committed to continue the improvement of services at TLJPH.

Maestral said she is still waiting for instructions from Secretary Teodora Herbosa on her assignment at the DOH. | GB
