Police deploys personnel to Quinta affected areas

The Philippine National Police deployed 124 personnel from Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office to assist in the search and rescue efforts and relief operations of towns and cities affected by typhoon Quinta in the province.

The group from NOCPPO were among the 319 Search and Rescue personnel deployed as of Oct. 26 to typhoon affected areas in Western Visayas,  Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6, said.

Malong added that PRO 6 has 1,133 more police personnel ready for deployment if the situation escalates in the region.

Zeaphard Gerhart Caelian, head of the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division, reported that 148 families were evacuated from low-lying areas of Hinobaan and Isabela.

Forty-six other families were also evacuated in Moises Padilla, according to Reynald Horegue, chief of the Local Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office.

Malong said that 22 other PRO 6 personnel are also being deployed to evacuation centers in the provinces of Negros Occidental, Capiz, and Antique.

Coast Guard personnel stationed at the Philippine Coast Guard Academy in Hinobaan also assisted the local government unit in the relief operations. GPB
