The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) launched the Negros Oriental leg of its “CampuSaya” school safety initiative at the Dumaguete City National High School Oct. 29.
The initiative focuses on school violence prevention, online threat awareness, and campus safety.
PRO-NIR director, Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, said the campaign’s primary components include fostering emotional resilience among students, encouraging peer reporting of bullying and suspicious activities, and coordinating campus security efforts among schools, barangay officials, and police units.

Reales led the activity, alongside Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office director, Col. Jonathan Abella, representatives from local government units, the Department of Education, partner government agencies, school administrators, and community stakeholders.
Reales described CampuSaya as a pioneer structured initiative in the country, aimed at building supportive educational environments.
“Let us teach our children that strength is not measured by how much fear we can create, but by how much protection we can provide,” he stressed.
He noted that campus safety relies on cooperation among parents, educators, and local authorities alongside law enforcement.
The launch in Dumaguete City marks the expansion of this initiative across Negros Island, following its initial rollout in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental Oct. 22.
Reales earlier said the campaign is targeted to reach all 2,400 campuses across the region. | TMD
