The Police Regional Office 6 said that its security deployment is in place as classes open today in Western Visayas.

All unit commanders from the provincial down to city and municipal level were given orders to ensure the safe and orderly opening of classes in Western Visayas, said regional police chief, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky.

“Law enforcement operations will be intensified to prevent the occurrence of crime and to prevent the lawless elements from launching their evil plans,” Wanky said.

The PRO6 also maximizes the deployment of its personnel in identified strategic areas, such as schools vicinity, terminal, transportation hubs, and main thoroughfares.

“There will be established police presence through mobile and foot patrols and deployment of detective patrollers in some identified areas, in close coordination with school authorities and local government units,” Wanky added.

The PNP is also tapping traffic enforcement units of LGUs to help man the traffic and to ensure the smooth movement and flow of vehicles.

Barangay officials, tanods, and other force multipliers, will also be utilized to maintain peace and order and public safety in their respective barangays.

Wanky, in a statement, also encouraged parents, students, and the general public to be vigilant to avoid becoming victims of the lawless elements.

He advised the public to carefully plan their travel routes to avoid being stuck in traffic congested areas. | GB
