The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) has vowed swift action, following reports of threatening social media posts targeting schools in Negros Occidental, including those in the cities of Bago and Victorias.
In a statement, PRO-NIR Director PBrig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales said they immediately launched verification and investigation efforts upon receiving the reports while coordinating with school authorities and implementing heightened security measures such as increased police visibility and patrols in affected areas.
Reales added that they are now working to identify those behind the threatening posts and coordinating with cybercrime authorities to preserve digital evidence and establish accountability.
He urged parents, students, teachers and school personnel to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious activities or threatening messages to the nearest police station or through official channels.
Reales also appealed to the public to avoid sharing unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic, stressing that threats of violence, whether made online or offline, will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
“School safety is a shared responsibility,” he stressed, assuring the public that it will continue coordinating with schools and stakeholders to protect learners and educators and ensure a safe learning environment. | GPB
