Mayor Neil Lizares, Talisay City

The Talisay City government reminded  barangay officials that contact and indoor sports are still disallowed under the enhanced general community quarantine.

Mayor Neil Lizares  and the city legal office clarified that there is no truth to reports circulating in the social media that basketball is already allowed to be played at the  barangay level.

An executive order allowing basketball in barangays was issued by one of the local government units in the province of Leyte and not by the National  Inter-Agency Task Force.

The NAITF guidelines stated that only outdoor, non-contact sports and other forms of exercises  are allowed, the mayor’s office said.

Lizares also appealed to Talisaynons to be vigilant on returning locally-stranded individuals as trips to and from  Negros and Panay as well as Metro Manila have resumed.

The cooperation of our youth as well as purok leaders in monitoring LSI arrivals and movements is important in  bringing down to COVID cases in Talisay, Lizares added. -MML
