Philippine Army installs new vice commander

Following his designation as the vice commander of the Philippine Army, Brig. Gen. Efren Morados was also promoted to the rank of major general on July 8.

Army chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido donned the two-star ranks on Morados and chief of staff, Maj. Gen. Ronald Jess Alcudia, in a ceremony held at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City, that immediately followed the arrival honors for the two newly-promoted Army leaders.

Morados served as the commander of the 62nd Infantry Battalion in Negros Occidental from 2013 to 2014.

Prior to his present position, Morados, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1992, served as commander of the 803rd Infantry Brigade.

Morados is now the second highest official of the Philippine Army.

Meanwhile, the 303rd Infantry Brigade in Negros Occidental has a new brigade sergeant major in the person of MSgt. Roger Mifa Jr., who succeeded Senior MSgt. Esmael Calayo on July 7.

Brig. Gen. Ted Dumosmog, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, who presided over the change of office ceremony, lauded Calayo for his unwavering professionalism.

He also welcomed Mifa with confidence in his capability to continue fostering excellence and discipline among the troops as the new leader of the brigade’s Non- Commissioned Officer Corps. | GB
