The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Negros Occidental is the regional winner in the search for the Best PESO Award, first class province category, and will vie for the national search in October during the 2024 National PESO Congress.
The PESO Kabankalan is also a regional nominee in the component city category.
The awarding ceremony was held during the 2024 Western Visayas PESO Congress, held last week in Guimaras, and led by Department of Labor and Employment Region 6 director, Atty. Sixto Rodriguez Jr., and assistant regional director Melisa Navarra.
The other regional winners are Antique for the 2nd class province category; Iloilo City, highly-urbanized city category; Roxas City in Capiz, component city category; Miag-ao in Iloilo, 1st class municipality category; Tigbauan in Iloilo, 2nd class municipality category; and Passi City, Iloilo, regional nominee in the component city category, the DOLE6 said.
The winners were judged based on their performance/achievement, like referral and placement of job applicants, labor market information, career guidance and employment coaching, DOLE programs being implemented, recipient of labor-related awards from prestigious institutions, and leadership and membership with active involvement in any organization which contributes to employment, the DOLE said.
The PESO Negros Occidental was also the regional grand winner in the DOLE’s Secretary’s Bayanihan Service Award 2022 (1st class province category), and received a certificate of recognition for its exemplary accomplishment in implementing the online job fair for CY 2021 amid the coronavirus disease pandemic, the Capitol earlier announced. ||
