Mayor Raymund Tongson disclosed that six barangays in Himamaylan City have been declared drug-free recently by the Regional Oversight Committee of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 6.
In his Facebook post, Mayor Tongson identified the drug-free villages as Nabali-an, Mambagaton, Carabalan, San Antonio, Cabadiangan and Cabanbanan.
Mayor Tongson said three more barangays–To-oy, Mahalang and Buenavista–are the next targets of the city’s intensified anti-drug campaign in partnership with the Philippine National Police and village officials.
“We want to keep our communities safe that is why, I am appealing to all Himamaylanons to extend their full cooperation as we endeavor to clear our villages from this menace,” the mayor added.
In this unprecedented period, Tongson said, “our community doesnt need another punch in the bag.”
This is the time that we should value the opportunity given us to unite as Himamaylanons. We should come together to pursue sustainable development programs for the city, the mayor continued.
“I believe that with everybody’s support, Himamaylan will gradually make it,” Tongson said.*
