The use of the P50-million donation of the Office of the President (OP) for local government units affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon in Negros Occidental may take time.
This comes after the OP required the provincial government to submit a copy of the related resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Wednesday, Jan. 22).
The P50-million financial assistance has been earmarked for food of the evacuees staying in 22 evacuation centers.
The provincial government already submitted to the OP a signed copy of the deed of donation, which was approved by the SP.
An additional requirement of the SP resolution with witnesses was required from the Capitol, Lacson said.
He said they are targeting to comply with the documentary requirements by next week so that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. can sign the deed of donation.
“Hopefully, we can iron out the details so that the amount can be utilized for the food of the evacuees,” the governor said. | GB
