A tricycle driver was shot and killed by two motorcycle riding suspects at about 7:30 a.m. today (Jan. 6) along the circumferential road in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.
The victim was identified by the police as Noel Peraren, 54, a resident of Purok Bantud, Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.
Peraren was jailed for illegal possession of firearms but was released on probation, according to the police.
Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, spokesperson of the Bacolod City Police Office, said that Peraren was driving a tricycle along the circumferential road when he was shot by a gunman on board a motorcycle.
Police investigations show that Peraren tried to escape from his assailants as witnesses saw him accelerating his tricycle while two men on board a motorcycle followed him closely.
The victim, however, lost control of the tricycle and crashed into a sari-sari store after he was hit by the gunman, the police said.
Peraren, who sustained gunshot wounds, was already dead when responding members of the rescue group and policemen arrived at the crime scene, the report said. — GB
