A three-storey school building with six classrooms, worth P8.8 million, was inaugurated and turned over to the Department of Education and the Camanjac National High School (CNHS) in Dumaguete City April 11.
Schools Division Superintendent Edmark Ian Cabio and CNHS principal Orlando Omlang thanked the city government and Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo for allocating funds for the construction of the new school building, adding this will bring relief to students and teachers currently adopting shifting schedules due to lack of classrooms.
Besides the newly-inaugurated school building, a separate allocation of P1.8 million was also approved for the completion of the two-storey, two-classroom school building, also at CNHS.

Remollo said the Local School Board, under his leadership, was able to allocate a total of P81.4 million for the construction of eight school buildings in seven recipient public schools, as well as the electrical upgrade at the Dumaguete City National High School, taken from the savings of the local government as a product of prudent fiscal management and good governance.
He also lauded the city’s taxpayers for religiously paying their taxes and dues, thus providing the local government the resources needed to invest in the education sector to improve access and quality of instruction to produce better quality graduates.
Camanjac National High School was the third recipient of the school building program of the city government already inaugurated. Previously, Remollo also inaugurated the two-storey, eight-classroom school buildings for North City Elementary School in Piapi and South City Elementary School in Mangnao, the city said.
Other speakers who manifested their appreciation to the local government for the turnover of the school building were CNHS assistant principal Catherine Bohol, Teachers League president Evangeline Torremocha, Parents Teachers president Bartolome Aranas, and Supreme Secondary Learner Government president Lorraine Lacson. ||
