The Police Regional Office 6 said Sept. 6 that its month-long anti-illegal drug operations all over Western Visayas resulted in the arrest of 307 suspects and the seizure of more than P72 million in suspected shabu and marijuana.
The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 logged the biggest haul of around P42.9 million worth of illegal drugs, followed by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (PPO), P8.2 million; and the Bacolod City Police Office with P8.1 million worth of recoveries.
The confiscation of around 10,707 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P72.8 million, and 14 grams of marijuana, worth P1,680, was the result of 236 police operations conducted last month, the PRO6 said.
The Negros Occidental PPO made the most number of arrests at 115, Iloilo City Police Office, 54; BCPO, 46; Iloilo PPO, 42; Capiz PPO, 12; RPDEU6, 11; and nine each for Antique, Aklan and Guimaras PPOs.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO6 director, commended the operatives for their unwavering and successful campaign against illegal drugs.
“These numbers reflect your dedication and commitment to fulfilling your sworn duties,” Wanky said and urged police personnel to continue exerting effort in identifying the associates of these suspects and subject them to law enforcement operations if evidence warrants.
The suspects were charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the police said. ||
