An estimated P4-billion housing project will be developed in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program, the flagship shelter program of the Marcos administration.

The city government, led by Mayor Raymund Tongson, entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development at the agency’s central office in Dilliman, Quezon City on Oct. 18.

This collaboration is expected not only to improve the living condition of the people, but also stimulate economic growth and development in the Himamaylan, setting a promising example for addressing housing challenges nationwide, Tongson said.

The first phase of the project is set to bring substantial housing infrastructure in Himamaylan City, with an estimated cost of P4 billion, with construction targeted to start within this year, a statement issued by the city government said.

Under the 4PH, the government is eyeing to complete at least 100,000 constructed housing units by next year, according to the DHSUD.

The housing program aims to establish livable communities by providing decent housing for the Filipino people.

The cities of Bacolod and Victorias in Negros Occidental are also recipients of the 4PH program of the administration.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Acuzar expressed the department’s commitment to ensuring that this program benefits as many Himamaylanons as possible, the city government said. | GB
