The city government’s funeral assistance to indigent Bacolodnons will continue with eight funeral homes already signing memoranda of agreement with the city.
Representatives of Bugna Funeral Services, Eastern Hills Funeral Services, Funeraria Del Lourdes Inc., Holy Angels Funeral Services, Lacsama Funeral Services, PSY Infinity Corporation, Villacrusis Funeral Services, and Est. 1992 ABE Funeral Homes signed the respective MOAs with Mayor Greg Gasataya, and ratified by the Sangguniang Panlungsod Aug. 20.
Per the MOA valid for one year, the assistance, worth P10,000, shall include retrieval of the deceased body from the scene, either hospital, home, or crime scene within Bacolod; seven days embalming; a casket; transportation of the deceased to the preferred interment location within Bacolod; as well as flowers, tarpaulin, carpet, curtain, chandeliers, candle stand, casket stand, and guest book with stand.
The funeral home shall provide services only to qualified beneficiaries, endorsed by duly-authorized personnel of the city, and shall submit all required documentation for validation, disbursement, and audit purposes.
The beneficiary of the funeral assistance may personally claim the funeral assistance grant from the City and directly pay the funeral home; or authorize the funeral home, via an assignment of rights with a special power of attorney (SPA), to receive the assistance on their behalf, the MOA said. | CGC
