The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) warned the public against unscrupulous individuals claiming to represent the OCD or its regional director, Raul Fernandez, soliciting money.
In a statement, OCD Region VI (OCD-Region VI) stated that the scammers were asking for money to “ensure smooth transactions” with the OCD.
They were soliciting money to be deposited into the account of a Ludivina Apao Betoc with the number 0970-359-8542, according to the OCD.
“The OCD does not, and will never, solicit money, gifts, or favors for any transactions or services,” the statement from the government agency said.
In a notice to the public, the OCD further stated that any such requests are fraudulent and should be disregarded, strongly urging the public not to entertain or respond to such calls or messages.
The OCD emphasized that such incidents should be immediately reported through its official channels at 0949-180-6115. | GB
